Due to unfortunate world events, schools have been forced to move online and become more technologically involved than ever. The unexpected turn of events have lead many teachers and students in the dark as the transition led to spontaneous problem solving.
Worksheets and tests that had once been done on paper now needed to be converted into digital files, a task that is not the easiest for many. Despite the many new innovations for online school, it is still difficult to seamlessly shift from paper to pixels.
under:score is an application aimed to make the process easier for teachers. By uploading a scanned document, the app will automatically detect questions and determine the appropriate type of answer that is needed. For instances, the app will detect a 'short answer question' when there are empty lines or it will detect 'multiple choice' when it sees the phrase 'one of the following.'
This concept was inspired when I read about many students complaining about needing to manually remove the lines of underscores the teachers put originally as blank space. Furthermore, requiring students to print paper handouts may not be convenient especially for students who do not have a printer at home.
under:score will help students and teachers integrate their learning experience into our rapidly developing digital world.
